Extended School Holidays
5th Jan 2021
Dear Parents and Children,
We hope that you are keeping very well at this time and on behalf of all the school team, I would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy year ahead.
As per our communication to you earlier this week, the government has extended the school Christmas break by three days until this Friday 8th of January.
The Press Release from the Department of Education can be read in full here:
30 December, 2020 - Ministers Foley and Madigan announce three-day extension to school Christmas holidays, with schools to re-open on 11 January - Department of Education and Skills
The Press Release states:
The Christmas school break will be extended for three additional days to 11 January. This will allow every member of the school community to follow public health advice closely and minimise their contacts before children return to school.
Thus schools are observing the extension of the holiday period for the remainder of the week.
As you are aware, discussions are ongoing in relation to whether schools will now reopen from Monday 11th of January. The Cabinet will meet tomorrow, Wednesday 6th January, to make a decision. We will keep you updated on developments as they happen.
With every good wish,
Fionnuala Rynne
Acting Principal.
